How to create a tag?
A tag is a colored label you can attach to members, groups, sites, devices, or gadgets to organize and filter them. Follow these steps to create one:
- Go to the Tags section.
- Click the New tag button in the top right corner.
- Fill in:
- Name — for example,
VIP,Cleaning,Floor 2. Pick something short and recognizable. - Color — pick a color so the tag is easy to spot in a list.
- Applies to — check the object types this tag should be available for. You can pick one or several:
- Members — to label people.
- Groups — to label groups of permissions.
- Sites — to label a building or location.
- Devices — to label physical hardware.
- Gadgets — to label individual openings (doors, gates, etc.).
- Name — for example,
- Click Submit to save.
The tag is now ready to be assigned. See How to assign tags for the next step.
Tips for choosing what a tag applies to
- Only check the boxes you actually need. A
Floor 2tag is probably only useful for Devices and Gadgets, not for members or groups. - A tag can always be edited later to change its name, color, or what it applies to.
- If you uncheck an “Applies to” option for a tag that is already assigned to objects of that type, those existing assignments are not removed automatically — you should clean them up manually.
